We have been busy like the bees that we have been seeing outside!
We started classroom jobs - and we are learning how these jobs help our classroom to run appropriately, and it really helps our teacher too! Some of these jobs include lunch carriers, electrician, teacher assistant, and teacher messenger. So far, it has all been going great!
In literacy, we have been drawing lots in our journals! We recently learned about how to earn tickets in school with our shiny Ray Warrior coins the teacher has been giving us when we are caught "being good". There is a chart in the classroom that gives the number of points we have to earn in order to get a ticket.
In our September journals, we picked a ticket we wanted to earn and wrote the corresponding number from off the chart.
These types of activities are helping us to learn how to get ready to write. Some of us are sounding out the words in our pictures and writing below. Right now though, our goal is to make our pictures Wow! drawings and interesting for the reader who looks at the pages of our journals. This will help us to be better writers later.
These are just a few of the highlights we have been doing in literacy!
Since our theme this week has been: All About Me - we have been sharing about ourselves in differing ways as well. We completed our lovely self - portraits that you can see outside our door and we made a name graph where we kept track of the first letter in our first names. We have been sharing about ourselves in our morning meetings and working on sharing "one thing" about us.
We also have welcomed 5 new students in our class since this past Monday! We are so happy to have you in our classroom and look forward to getting to know you!
